The US Green Card Lottery Program, known as DV (Diversity Visa) Lottery program, is a good opportunity for potential immigrants to obtain the status as a permanent legal resident of the USA. You may apply by yourself at the U.S. Department of State website, if you wish. This program runs each year and provides 50,000 "Green Cards" to applicants randomly selected in a lottery process.
IMPORTANT SCAM WARNING!
Please be aware of scams through which some individuals or companies are trying to extract payments. They are not affiliated with USAGCLS, even though they take the liberty of using our name and web address in the letter, without our approval. Please see the below letter and notice several worrisome facts:
The notice was sent by email. Official winning notices are send ONLY by postal mail! No exceptions. If it arrives by email, it’s a fraud.
The sender uses our name (USAGCLS) in his email address (an Israeli one), as well as listing it at the bottom of the letter. He is doing so to gain credibility and to divert attention from himself to us in case there were problems.
The sender is asking the "winner" to call and does not provide any mailing address to mail in supporting documentation about his/her case. Again, this is a red flag. Instead, he asks the "winner" to make a call and probably asks for a payment over the phone.
If you receive these types of notices, please refer to the above 3 points and an example of a letter below to determine its authenticity.
