Legal Immigration is Expensive!

When talking about illegal immigration, do people ever bring up the topic that it's EXPENSIVE to come to America legally? Not only is it an expensive process but it's also long and tedious, waiting lines that can stretch for years, which is vital time for a lot of families that want to come over.

It seems like people believe that immigrants WANT to come over to America illegally. I'm sure they all want to risk their lives coming over the scorching borders just so they don't have to pay income taxes. If they were given the chance to come over legally without paying high fees in their countries or waiting years to get a Green Card, most of them will take the chance. But that's not the scenario. We have Hispanic governments that charge a lot for their citizens wanting American green cards and a long waiting line. If you're a father of a few kids who haven't found a job in your politically decapitated country and know there's a higher job employment in America, would you take it? Who wouldn't?

So my solution to this immigration problem is finding out the reason why people want to come here instead of staying in their home countries.

Let's see.

Political unrest?

No jobs?

Unsafe for their children?

All of the above?

Well, why don't we help those countries become better? I know it's a BIG and generalized solution, but it's the best one, isn't it? If we make an investment in making those countries better, people wouldn't need to come to America to get a job or find a better life. Does this make sense to anyone else?

This problem does deal with illegal activity and I don't like the fact that people have to resort to coming here on boats and walking deserts without water to just work here. I'd much rather them come here legally so we could record their activity, get their taxes, and also we can watch over them. Corporations take advantage of illegal immigrants and I don't like that because they get paid unequally and their human rights are abused.

But illegal immigrants is something we're going to have to confront and if we do, we better do it wisely. Stop looking at the short future and look at the long run. Explain this problem to the public from ALL sides.
